My name is Enrico Zimuel, and I have been writing code since 1996. I am an open-source contributor specializing in artificial intelligence, software engineering, and data science. I contributed to Open Telemetry and W3C and I was a former member of PHP Framework Interop Group and a longtime contributor to the PHP community. I was also featured by JetBrains in its 25 Years of PHP celebration.
Throughout my career, I have worked with many programming languages, including C/C++, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Perl, PHP, Python, TypeScript, and others.
I am a former Tech Lead and Principal Software Engineer at Elastic. I spent more than 15 years working for Silicon Valley companies and have worked as a consultant for international organizations including ADP, Albacom, DHL, Enel, Engineering, Ericsson, FCA, NIIT, Prisacom, Santander, and others.
I am an Adjunct Professor of Machine Learning at the University of Turin and teach Agentic AI and RAG architectures at Roma Tre University. I have also taught computer science for more than seven years at ITS ICT Piemonte in Turin.
My research interests include artificial intelligence, computer science, and cryptography. A list of my publications is available here. I also worked as a Research Programmer at the Informatics Institute of the University of Amsterdam.
I am a TEDx speaker and an international speaker, with more than 140 talks on computer science topics.
I have written several books on artificial intelligence, computer programming, open source, secure software development, and applied cryptography.
I earned a Master's degree in Data Analytics from Roma Tre University and a B.Sc. with honors in Computer Science and Economics from the University of Pescara. I've been selected for NKS 2006 with Stephen Wolfram at Brown University and I received a scholarship for Big Dive 2013, a postgraduate program in Data Science and Big Data organized by TOP-IX and the ISI Foundation.
I am also a co-founder of the Programmer User Group of Turin, the city where I live. I have been working fully remotely since 2008.
